![]() ![]() Weakness All enemies will have Weaknesses to certain element, or certain weapon types. The party members can only be change in Tavern. As with any other JRPG, you will need to form a party of 4. Gameplay I actually find the game play to be interesting. This doesn’t provide anything else other than extra dialogue, so you will not be missing out on anything even if you choose not to view it. Basically once in awhile, there will be an option for you to view the dialog between characters in your party. There are only 2 kind of interactions between different characters. Meaning in terms of story, it doesn’t matter which character you recruit first, or if you even recruit, because characters will not actually play a part in other character’s stories. Story Different character’s stories does not actually overlap. Since players will generally move around back and forth, one good thing about the game is the ability to teleport to any town you visited before. Successfully completing their chapter 1 will allow you to continue exploring the world map with the character unlocked in your party. The game tell players where to find each character, and to recruit the character, you need to speak to the character and play their chapter 1. ![]() ![]() One of the thing I feel the game did well is that it inform the players the recommended level when going to a new area, or when starting a new chapter. As such, it is definitely recommended for players to start off by recruiting all the characters available found in the inner-circle, before starting off chapter 2 of any character. Using this system, the game pushes players to explore the map from inner-circle, and slowly to the outer-circle where enemies are generally stronger. However, certain areas have strong enemies that will easily kill you, and is the only limiting factor for you to explore the world. After completing the first chapter of the character you chose, it became sort of an open world where you are allowed to explore the world map however you wish. This character will be the “Main Character”, and you should actually choose wisely because this character will be locked in your party until you completed that character’s story (i.e finished chapter 4). You will first need to choose one character out of the 8 to start off your adventure. There are 8 characters scattered around Octopath Traveler’s world, each with their own set of stories. ![]()
